A Little Nest
One spring, a bird started building a little nest in a tree behind my house. The bird was busy flying back and forth. Each time, she brought something with her—fine grass, twigs, or dry leaves.
A few days later, a beautiful little nest was finished. Then she stopped flying out. Inside the nest, she laid three blue eggs.
One day passed, then two. She kept sitting there. On the third day, she flew out but came back quickly.
Two weeks passed. Crack! One egg opened. A little chick peeked out. Then another, and another. “Chirp! Chirp!”
The mother bird was so proud!
